The North Hatley Club
The North Hatley Club (NHC) is a private summer club located on the shores of Lake Massawippi in North Hatley, Quebec (www.northhatleyclub.com). Founded in 1897, it is a cosmopolitan community, its members hailing from Quebec, the rest of Canada, the United States, and several other countries. Members are actively involved as volunteers, supporting the NHC community with family-oriented, multi-generational activities and social events. The Club operates primarily during the summer months; late June to late August, although there are occasionally member events at other times. NHC's main activities include swimming, canoeing, sailing, tennis, social functions, and a junior activities program.

The Position:
NHC is seeking a Club Manager for the 2025-2026 season. The Club Manager reports to the Club's Board President, and supervises staff members including the Lead Counsellor, Lifeguards, Tennis Pros, Maintenance Staff, and other staff involved in delivery of specific activities. During the summer the position is full-time (35 to 44 hours per week over 8 weeks). Some part-time work is required during the off season (few tasks during the rest of the year), largely focused on the hiring of summer staff members and administration related to summer program offerings and our facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
? Coordinate the delivery of the daily programs in all areas (boating, tennis, swimming and other social activities).
? Oversee efforts to improve program offerings of the NHC for children and adults.
? Hire, train, support, and evaluate staff members.
? Maintain records and communicate with members using our Club's database management system, Wild Apricot.
? Oversee tennis court maintenance with the support of the Club tennis committee.
? Communicate effectively and efficiently throughout the year and especially in the summer months with members, suppliers, and local community as required.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience managing a club, recreational facility, or similar environment involving people and programs. Candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, certifications in CPR and First Aid (NHC will cover the cost). If the candidate is certified in Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder no additional medical training would be required. Certifications such as NLS and WSI are considered strong assets as most club activities are centered around the water. Candidates should enjoy engaging with people of all ages. Training in tennis court management and maintenance will be provided. Written and oral fluency in English is required; French fluency is an asset but not mandatory.
Strong interpersonal skills and a teamwork approach are essential to success in this position. Experience working with a Board of Directors is also an asset given the very important role that the NHC Board plays in the programming and year round support for the management of the Club.
Compensation is negotiable as we'd love to work something out with the right candidate.
Candidates may apply by submitting a resume and cover letter to Jennifer Madill at manager@northhatleyclub.com. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
