Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) invite applications for a 0.5 FTE Clinician Educator and Academic Family Physician in the Department of Family Medicine (Halifax). Candidates will be granted an academic appointment at Dalhousie University and be active staff with the Central Zone Department of Family Practice, NSH, and the IWK. This position offers exciting opportunities for professional development within academic family medicine in a dynamic department with over 800 community-based family physicians in 64 communities in the three Maritime provinces.This position involves the provision of ambulatory, team-based, and comprehensive academic family medicine care including clinical supervision of medical learners. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for 625 patients on one of the four Dalhousie Family Medicine (DFM) community-based collaborative teams at the DFM Halifax clinics. As well, the successful candidate may consider providing primary care obstetrics or long-term care with one of our nursing home care teams. This is a clinical academic position with the potential to develop academic leadership, administrative and scholarly activities depending on interest and departmental needs.The successful candidate must have CFPC certification and be a current and ongoing member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. The successful candidate must also be eligible to obtain a full license to practice in Nova Scotia. Favourable consideration will be given to those applicants who have evidence of advanced academic competencies such as relevant Masters degrees or other Certificates.Academic rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, with an appointment commencing as early as November 2024.
