JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Leader of Clinical Support and Operational Services, the Clinical Support Manager leads the Clinical Educators, providing strategic oversight and coordination of all internal educational activities within Advanced Medical Solutions. This position is key to fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement, overseeing the development and implementation of training programs that meet both internal standards and external accreditations. The role involves collaboration with various Clinical Managers to ensure that the educational offerings contribute effectively to the overall clinical excellence of the organization. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary focus of the Clinical Support Manager is to provide leadership and management of the Clinical Support Organization, ensuring the effectiveness, compliance, and continual improvement of all clinical training and educational programs. The Clinical Support Manager's role is crucial in leading the clinical education efforts within the organization, ensuring that educational programs are not only effective and compliant but also responsive to the evolving needs of the clinical staff and the broader healthcare landscape.
  • Supervise and support the Clinical Educators in their respective roles.
  • Oversee and share the responsibilities for the development and implementation of all clinical training and educational programs.
  • Ensure educational programs are compliant with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Collect and analyze educational attendance and accreditation data, reporting findings to the Leader of Clinical Support.
  • Review data monthly to identify and address quality concerns and trends.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between the Clinical Educators and Clinical Managers across service organizations.
  • Collect and analyze data on educational effectiveness and adjust as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical research, clinical competency requirements, and best practices in clinical education.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to the Clinical Educators to aid in their development and effectiveness.
  • Provide advice and guidance to key internal stakeholders in relation to education and training programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The following are the recommended qualifications required to successfully perform the role of Clinical Support Manager:
  • Demonstrate professionalism through preparedness, cleanliness, attire, and communication.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff members.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and problem-solving skills, composure, and a team player.
  • Demonstrate strong communications skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Registered Nurse or an Advanced/Critical Care Paramedic registered with a Canadian regulatory body and in good standing.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, CTAS, STABLE, NRP preferred.
  • Experience in a clinical leadership, management, staff development, and mentoring.
  • 3-5 years experience using learning management systems and information technology.
  • A relevant degree in education would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills in Office 365 environment including Share Point, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The Clinical Support Manager will operate in a professional office from their home, and occasionally in a classroom, and simulation labs from the AMS Headquarters in Yellowknife when required. The Clinical Support Manager routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, medical training equipment, audio visual equipment as well as all medical equipment utilized in the Air Ambulance, Ground Ambulance, Industrial, and Community services. The Clinical Support Manager will provide coverage for the Clinical Educators when they are absent and unable to perform their duties. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Computer work which requires close vision.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required - typically 50-75 lbs.
  • Maintain Class 5 drivers license.
  • Must meet the physical requirement of practicing Critical Care Flight Nurse/Paramedic.
