Reporting to the Senior Manager, Programs and Services, Health and Transition Services (HTS) and consistent with the Mission, Values and policies of St.Amant, the Supervisor (Clinical), Health & Transition Services (referred to as Supervisor here after) is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations.Exemplifying the mission, vision and values of St.Amant, the Supervisor works collaboratively with partnered programs while offering employees respectful customer service.The Supervisor plays a key leadership role to ensure person-centred, evidence based care for those supported at St.Amant, their families and caregivers. This role envelops the core values as identified by St.Amant and models same throughout their practice. This position reports to Manager of Infection Prevention & Control and Clinical Collaborative Practices.Responsibilities of the Supervisor includes:

  • Supervises and supports the regulated and non-regulated direct care providers through evaluative processes, improving cultural awareness, overseeing workplace health & safety and infection control protocols
  • Works as a team member within the Leadership Framework to support decision making in absentia and in collaboration with other Facility support teams within St.Amant
  • Seeks guidance using the Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and Practice Expectations as defined by College of Registered Nurses , College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses OR college of Licensed Practice Nurses of Manitoba when working with professionals
  • Working knowledge of unionized environments and collective agreements

  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree or Bachelor of Registered Psychiatric Nursing Degree from an accredited College or Faculty of Nursing as deemed acceptable by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) and/or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) required
  • Successful completion of a Health Services Management course from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification an asset.
  • Current Mental Health First Aid Certification an asset.
  • Conflict Management training an asset.
Professional:
  • Active registration with CRNM and/or CRPNM in good standing
  • Current Basic Life Saver (CPR) renewed annually at own expense
  • Knowledge of Accessibility and the Vulnerable Persons Act
  • Previous experience supporting people with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in unionized health care setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health equity issues, challenges and impact on people supported within St.Amant community
  • Critical Incident Stress Management debriefing training an asset.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Vulnerable Persons Act (VPA), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) Universal Precautions, etc.)
  • Proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment
  • Working with electronic medical record an asset

Duties and ResponsibilitiesProgram/Service SupportClinical Care ManagementConsistent with the Mission, Philosophy and Policies of St.Amant, the Supervisor facilitates, supports and delegates as required to the regulated professional and non-regulated Direct Care Providers. Knowledge of external regulatory bodies within WRHA and Long Term Care in meeting accreditation standards required. Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness / sensitivity, confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.Duties include:
  • Promotes person-centred, evidence-based care and facilitates accessibility to resources that supports practice
  • Advises the Leadership Team on changing/emerging population health needs and recommends adjustments to care planning as required
  • Supports a collaborative approach to problem solving in practice and engages regulated and non-regulated care providers in decision making
  • Delegates champions of care to support other regulated and non-regulated care providers with care management
  • Assesses the need for enhanced care based on nursing knowledge and practice
  • Identifies learning needs and communicates challenges and issues, to the Senior Manager, Programs and Services or manager of service area affected
