Job Description


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Incumbent will hold 2 roles Educator and Travel Registered Nurse:

(a) Educator Role; Working within the nursing staffing orientation and practicum portfolio, nurses complete self- learning modules and practicum. Incumbent will facilitate 2-3 orientation groups per month with opportunity for 4-5 practicum days throughout the month depending on number of new hires and locations they will be serving. (NU, BC, ON, AB, MB, YK, NWT)

(b) The incumbent will assist the northern staffing clinical team in updating e-learning modules for all northern contracts, marking orientation assignments, participating in the enhancement of the orientation/ practicum program and assist to refine and roll out a new continuous education program for northern nurses.

(c) The incumbent will assist in the design and implementation of our annual clinical validation of skills workshop to nurses across the country to regional hub locations in Canada.

(d) The incumbent will be flexible to travel for educator role and annual validation workshop if possible however not required for the role.

(e) Duty Travel: Registered Nurse Services (Registered Nurse and/ or RN Extended class) based on client needs using expanded scope of practice as a nurse practitioner in remote and isolated northern communities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Masters in a health-related field is preferred, however, a BScN or Masters in progress may be considered if it is in conjunction with other required skills, abilities, and experience.
  • Current registration with a Canadian Provincial/Territorial nursing regulatory body (i.e., College of Nurses of Ontario, Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories & Nunavut, College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta).
Minimum five to seven years of professional/Healthcare experience combined with a minimum of three to five years in a clinical Lead, Educator or Supervisor capacity is required. Solid knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of Remote and Northern community nursing; Experience in the development of community-based care and client teaching programs; Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application

Other Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to meet deadlines; demonstrated track record of high productivity; confidence and sound judgment in dealing with a variety of health care providers, including nurses, managers, and staff from other disciplines. Exceptional clinical skills, ability to work collaboratively, assume leadership responsibilities, and communicate effectively. Demonstrates basic clinical analysis and informatics competencies i.e., device, application, and information communication technology basic skills.
