Position Description

The Clinical Research Project Coordinator serves as an integral member of the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Research Team. NIH- funded Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet is an international network of researchers dedicated to conducting diabetes prevention research for children and adults at risk for type 1 diabetes (https://www.trialnet.org/). The Hospital for Sick Children is the lead clinical centre in Canada, supporting affiliate sites across the country. We are seeking an individual to join the TrialNet team to assist with research operations.
Here's What You'll Get To Do:
Work closely with the study team in planning and carrying out all aspects of new and ongoing studies.
Recruitment: Develop and execute in-hospital and community-based recruitment initiatives and support recruitment efforts at other Canadian sites
Manage online referrals for potential study participants, confirm eligibility and obtain informed consent.
Assist with advance preparations for participant study visits including preparation of source documentation, organization of blood sample collections, and booking travel and accommodations.
Perform patient screening calls and study assessments and follow up with study participants.
Organize materials to facilitate protocol adherence, including development and updating of study binders, checklists of eligibility etc. Ensure that studies are conducted in accordance with GCP, REB guidelines, TrialNet and SickKids policies and procedures.
Assist in the management of SickKids REB submissions including amendments and renewals as well as community REB submissions
Processing study samples including centrifuging, aliquoting serum and plasma samples.
Management of study test kits including test kit tracking and processing.
Organizing the shipment of study samples as per study protocols.
Data management, including completion of case report forms, data entry and data verification.
Assist in training/orientation of new research staff at Sick Kids and at affiliated sites.
Occasional evenings or weekends and travel in Ontario is required.
Attend 1 - 2 TrialNet Steering Committee meetings per year. Travel to the U.S. is required.
Here's What You'll Need:
Post-Secondary Degree in sciences, social sciences or a health-related discipline.
2-3 years related clinical research experience.
Ability to develop expert knowledge of study protocols, procedures and documents
Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a team
Strong organizational skills
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, REDCap, EPIC)
Certification as a Clinical Research Associate (e.g. SOCRA, ACRP accreditation) is an asset.
TCPS2, GCP, Health Canada Regulatory Training is an asset
Experience with type 1 diabetes is an asset
