Position Description

The SickKids Lupus Research Program in the Division of Rheumatology is seeking a Clinical Research Project Assistant to join our team. The SickKids Lupus Research Program strives to improve outcomes for children and adolescents with systemic lupus erythematosus through multidisciplinary research. Working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), the project assistant will assist with projects related to childhood-onset lupus. The project assistant will perform study activities including subject recruitment and data collection, study administration, preparing consents and paperwork required by the Research Ethics Board (REB) and organizing data entry and analysis. The project assistant will also assist in the preparation of study results, including presentations, progress reports, and manuscripts. The project assistant will also work collaboratively with a team of physicians, nurses, psychologists, researchers, and other project staff.

Here's What You Get to Do:



Assist the PI with conducting studies, including subject recruitment and consent, conducting study visits, data management, development of timelines, monitoring of progress, and tracking of deadlines Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding study participation Assist with questionnaire and database design Perform patient interviews and assessments as required by study protocols Perform data management including checking data for accuracy and completeness, scoring data, entering data and data cleaning Assist with design/development of promotional materials/newsletters Assist with applications for Research Ethics Board approvals and revisions; develop informed consent documents Facilitate protocol adherence, including study binders and checklists of eligibility; monitor, report and track adverse events related to studies Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts Participate in in-services on study requirements; keep abreast of regulations and policies governing clinical research; attend relevant departmental meetings or rounds in order to increase knowledge and understanding Co-supervise (with PI) trainees, students, volunteers Encourage and foster collaborative relationships with the healthcare and research team at SickKids, and other participating centres

Here's What You'll Need



Post-secondary degree in a health-related discipline; Master's degree in health-related discipline is preferred Previous clinical research experience is preferred Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation and organizational skills Excellent computer skills (strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database navigation) Excellent knowledge of reference management software (EndNote, Mendeley, Reference Manager, etc.) Experience with statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, SPSS) and electronic database management (e.g. REDCap) is an asset Qualitative interview and qualitative data analysis experience is an asset Experience with scientific graph and figure design is an asset Experience with knowledge translation and lay communications is an asset Demonstrated interest in and/or work experience related to: the health of children and adolescents, particularly in the context of chronic illness Demonstrated ability to: 1) be self-motivated and self-directed 2) work independently, with minimal supervision, and within a team, 3) utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and 4) be detail-oriented while maintaining view of the larger scope A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
