Clinical Research Project Assistant -

NeuroOutcomes

Position Description

The NeuroOutcomes lab is seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual to work as a Clinical Research Project Assistant, working closely with the Clinical Research Project Manager and the Principal Investigator (Dr. Tricia Williams) on several studies evaluating neurodevelopmental outcomes and behavioural supports for children with early brain injury (e.g., preterm birth, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, congenital heart disease, perinatal stroke, etc.).

The Clinical Research Project Assistant will support the day-to-day activities related to study participant enrollment, data entry, results tracking and review, and survey administration. They will support a research study evaluating novel approaches to neuropsychological assessment, as well as several initiatives related to the InTERACT-North program, a virtual mental health intervention for families of children with brain injury and early medical conditions.

The successful candidate will work on a diverse team consisting of the Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Project Manager, other research staff, research students and volunteers, practicum students, postdoctoral fellows, and collaborators within and beyond SickKids. This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE/3 days per week). They will be required to work in-personat the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (686 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5G 0A4), though there is some flexibility for hybrid (in-person and virtual) work.

Here's What You Will Get to Do

Research Coordination (75%):Support participant recruitment and obtain informed consent/assent as applicable Administer research questionnaires and maintain contact with research participants per study protocols Assist with knowledge translation activities such as presentations, posters and abstracts, academic publications, internal publications, and social media Contribute to research grant applications and related activities Maintain study budget and records Conduct medical literature searches, synthesize academic literature Medical chart abstraction Contribute to Research Ethics Board applications, renewals, amendments, and reports Attend and support facilitation of Family Advisory Committee meetings (1 evening per month) Ensure that all aspects of studies are performed within Good Clinical practice and Tri-Council guidelines

Data Management (20%):Performing data management (e.g., REDCap, SPSS, Excel) including checking data for accuracy and completeness, scoring data, entering data and data cleaning Uphold quality control processes throughout study conduct Maintaining ongoing records in an organized manner that is easily accessibly by the appropriate research staff

Administrative Responsibilities (5%):Booking team meetings, communicate and coordinate tasks with other team members

Here's What You'll Need

Post-secondary degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or other social/health science-related discipline Research experience in psychology, mental health, or health sciences (dry lab) required; experience in a clinical research environment and/or academic hospital an asset Knowledge of the design and conceptualization of clinical research studies in mental health Experience in preparing applications, amendments, and regular reports to Research Ethics Board Familiarity/experience with conducting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) an asset Familiarity/experience with implementation science an asset Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with tight timelines simultaneously Ability to work efficiently under pressure with strong judgement, excellent problem-solving, and decision-making skills Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead a wide variety of people at different levels Demonstrated effective communication (oral/written) skills, ability to explain complex ideas in plain language, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team Computer competency including familiarity with databases (REDCap, OneDrive, SPSS), MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint) Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria TCPS II and GCP certification is preferred (may be completed after hiring) A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
