The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position summary
We are recruiting a Clinical Research Coordinator to join the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Under the supervision of the Research Director, the candidate will also work in close collaboration with members of the Concussion Electrophysiology and Rehabilitation Research Laboratory at Concordia University. We are looking for a motivated, organized and enthusiastic person to join our dynamic team.
The Clinical Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for oversight on a project investigating clinical and neurophysiological outcomes in children with concussion. Broadly, this involves the recruitment of children from the Montreal ChildrenaEUR(TM)s Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department and Concussion Clinic and the collection of electroencephalography (EEG) and clinical data (symptom, cognitive, vestibular, and patient-reported outcomes). As time allows, the Clinical Research Coordinator will also assist with basic laboratory tasks, such as creating and managing databases, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with research ethics. More specific responsibilities for the position are described below.
General Duties

  • Coordinates study initiation and ensures smooth and efficient day-to-day activities in the carrying out of the projects,
  • Collects data as per study protocol, including EEG, clinical data, and patient information,
  • Screens for potential patients using patient medical charts,
  • Recruits eligible patients from the Pediatric Emergency Department and Concussion Clinic,
  • Schedules patient visits and follow-ups as needed,
  • Create and maintain a project database in RedCap,
  • Perform data entry and ensure data is securely stored and organized,
  • Perform data quality checks and clean data as needed,
  • Maintain screening and enrollment records,
  • Oversees other personnel working on the project,
  • Monitors the progress of the research project with monthly reports,
  • Communicates with investigators and other project stakeholders,
  • Ensures ethical approvals are maintained throughout the study,
  • Reports adverse events/amendments/protocol deviations are required by the ethics board,
  • Submits completed study manuscripts to scientific journal online platforms as required,
  • Assists with budget, invoicing, and ordering supplies as needed,
  • Accomplishes any other relevant duties as required by the immediate superior and/or delegate.

Education / Experience
  • MasteraEUR(TM)s in health, science, or engineering field,
  • Bilingual: French and English spoken and written,
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills,
  • Able to work under minimal supervision,
  • Self-directed, organized and sense of ethics,
  • Comfortable around children and in Emergency room setting,
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint),
  • One (1) year experience in clinical research is an asset,
  • Prior experience with electroencephalography (data collection, processing, and/or analysis) is an asset,
  • Experience in coding (Python, R, MATLAB, SAS) is an asset,
  • Supervision experience is an asset.
Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time - one year with potential for renewal as per fund availability
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience, between $22.21/hr to $41.24/hr
Work Shift: 35 hours/ week, Monday to Friday (daytime), with occasional weekends or evenings as required for data collection only
Work Site: Glen site and collaboration with lab at Concordia University
