Position Description

The Clinical Research Assistant works closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team led the program's Research Project Manager to conduct research activities related to interventional clinical trials and prospective registries. This includes day-to-day operations of on-going studies, and helping with the development of new projects. In addition, he/she develops close working relationships with the medical and health care professional staff who provide clinical care to the study patients, both at the SickKids and other institutions.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:



Review of study protocols and prepare protocols for use. Organize science reviews and track deadlines. Keep records of regulations and policies governing clinical research and communicate to staff and research team members. (e.g., Tri-council Policy Statement, ICH Guidelines, Good Clinical Practices, and Health Canada and FDA regulations). Develop study binders for clinical program and study team use and ensure they are kept up to date. Participate in audits, site visits and monitoring by SickKids and other regulatory bodies. Participates in database entry.

Check data for accuracy and completeness; score data; enter data, including data reentry; data cleaning

Prepare study case report forms and assemble packages of questionnaires.

Actively participate in departmental/program meetings or rounds to acquire and disseminate knowledge and to profile clinical research. Encourage and foster collaborative relationships with healthcare team at SickKids, other participating centers and government and community agencies.
Research Subject Related

Telephone subjects to confirm appointments or follow-up on study requirements. Obtain informed consent for questionnaire-based research. Explain questionnaires and arrange for subjects. Conduct telephone interviews. Conduct health chart reviews Experience with research data entry platforms, study subject travel companies, CRO's, external research laboratories, IWRS systems, and other third-party study vendors would be an asset.

Here's What You'll Need:



Post-secondary degree in sciences, social sciences or a health-related discipline. Previous research experience is desirable. A clinical professional degree would be preferred, as would certification as a clinical research associate (e.g., SOCRA accreditation). Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) Function independently yet collaboratively within a team. Effective communication, interpersonal, facilitation and project management skills. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.

Employment Type:

Full-time temporary 1 year contract with modified benefits (i.e., health & dental).
