Job Description

The Clinical Quality and safety coordinator, reporting to the Clinical Resource manager is responsible for the planning and managing of quality and patient/resident safety projects and initiatives. Acting as the site champion the CQSC will also act as education support and auditor for several clinical safety initiatives including wound management, medication reconciliation, hand hygiene education and audits, hazard assessment, accreditation supports and immunizations, all contributing to organizational learning. The CQSC will collaborate with staff, act as a resource and liaison for infection prevention and control, participate in various committees and working groups at a site level. The coordinator must possess the skills to use data and information to effectively advance quality and innovation and is committed to quality improvement and patient/resident safety. Travel is required and will include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver's abstract will also be required. This position is non-Unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Post secondary degree in a health care profession, or related field. 3-5 years Clinical Health care experience, including an understanding of the various components of patient/resident care (i.e. charting etc.) Active license with professional organization (where applicable). Valid driver's license.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with coordinating teams through facilitation/coordination of project planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a unique project environment. Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Experience with MS Office suite (including MS Project, Visio, MS Teams). Proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with complex and varied internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the role and importance of clinical quality and safety within health care. Ability to implement, evaluate and provide ongoing monitoring support for patient/resident safety initiatives. Ability to problem solve, think critically, and develop action plans to ensure successful implementation of clinical safety initiatives. Conflict resolution skills, ability to handle stressful situations.
