Job Title: Clinical Psychologist

Department: Child and Youth Ambulatory Care

Division: Simcoe Muskoka Regional Eating Disorders Program

Position Summary

The Simcoe Muskoka Regional Eating Disorder Program provides evidence-based manualized treatment for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and OSFED to patients under the age of 25. This regionalized program offers equitable access to collaborative and standardized care of eating disorders at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and Orillia Soldier\'s Memorial Hospital.

The psychologist\'s role will primarily include clinical consultation to the Eating Disorder Team on complex patients, as well as tracking program fidelity and other patient outcomes.

Education:

  • Graduate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario is mandatory. Autonomous practice is preferred.
  • Authorized area of practice in Clinical Psychology is mandatory.
  • Authorized client population in children, adolescents, family, and adults is preferred (some combination of authorization with the various populations listed above will be considered).
Experience
  • Five years of experience in clinical mental health preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical work with mental health disorders, including patients with severe and complex mental health and eating disorders.
  • Experience working in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in assessment of mental health disorders, learning/cognitive functioning, and eating disorders.
Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with vulnerable and marginalized clients and families.
  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in eating disorders assessment, diagnosis and treatment in transitional-aged youth
  • Demonstrated evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
  • Knowledge and experience with scientific research methodology and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to communicate and collaborate in an inter professional team context are essential, including working collaboratively between hospital and community services.
  • Strong knowledge, demonstrated ability, and experience in program development, evaluation, and research.
  • Experience with community consultation is an asset.
  • Willingness to work variable hours.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational ability, critical thinking, and goal-setting skills.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and expertise with other team members.
  • Valid driver\'s license and access to a vehicle with the potential to travel between two sites
  • Willingness to participate in a criminal reference screening process.
  • Fluency in French will be considered an asset

Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.

Please be reminded that as a Regional Health Centre, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
