As a Regional Clinical Leader for the Primary Care - Eastern Urban Zone the incumbent applies advanced professional, administrative, clinical knowledge and skills, and critical thinking in the provision of expert occupational therapy client centered services for individuals receiving primary health care, including those teams providing services to vulnerable populations and within Family Care Teams.As Clinical Lead, the Clinical Occupational Therapist III is responsible for ensuring continuation, co-ordination and implementation of professional practice standards; development and compliance with policies and procedures; strategic resource planning; continuing education and staff competency specific to the delivery of the Occupational Therapy service. The OT clinical lead will compile, evaluate and report qualitative and quantitative data; evaluate performance; conduct research and ensure implementation of evidence-based practice. Other responsibilities include identifying demand drivers for Occupational therapy, evaluating workload/caseload allocation and orientation/mentorship for new OT staff, interprofessional team members and students. The Clinical Occupational Therapist III will also be responsible to provide advanced and specialized clinical services to clients.The work of the Clinical lead is grounded in trauma informed philosophy of care providing client-centered, evidence-based, compassionate, comprehensive, sustainable healthcare with excellence in quality, service, and access. A high degree of specialized knowledge in the areas of primary care, work with vulnerable populations, health and recovery promotion, chronic health issues and mental health challenges, home safety assessments, equipment assessment/prescription, self-management, and community participation is necessary. The OT clinical lead will recognize the social, structural, political, and ecological determinants of health impacting clients serviced in the primary care program. The OT clinical lead is a strong collaborator and will build respectful relations with clients, interprofessional team members and community stakeholders.Clinical supervision will be provided to Occupational Therapist I\'s, Occupational therapist II\'s, and Occupational Therapist Support personnel, as required. These duties are performed under the administrative guidance of the Primary Health Care Program. The Clinical Occupational Therapist III will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experience to students within NLHS.This Clinical Occupational Therapist III is a mentor, coach and systems thinker. The incumbent will collaborate with other Regional Clinical Occupational Therapist leaders and be a member of the NLHS OT clinical leaders committee. This position reports to the Primary Health Care Manager and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for integrity and professional practice issues.Job Demands

Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
A minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working as a Clinical Occupational Therapist in a primary health care, with a focus on physical and mental health is required.
Demonstrates Knowledge and understanding of the Health Accord NL as it relates to Primary Health Care and especially the function of interdisciplinary community teams.
Expert knowledge of trauma informed approach to service provision, particularly as it relates to systems navigation for those experiencing poverty, homelessness, or other barriers to access health care is essential
Knowledge of health and community-based resources, programs, and systems to support program development across departments, programs and services is required.
Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluations of OT treatment plans and addresses occupational performance issues in consultation with the program manager and professional practice.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with interprofessional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation, report writing and professional communications
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of occupational therapy practice to others.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and train Clinical Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Support Workers and students.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a diverse and changing environment.
Proven leadership skills that are focused on engaging others, collaboration and developing coalitions
Proven ability to forge productive partnerships with community agents and other internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.

A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver\'s License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
