Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Rural Seniors Health (Home care) works with a high degree of autonomy to provide clinical guidance, clinical support and clinical leadership to Central Zone operations with a focus on Seniors Health. The CNS collaborates with the CNEs and other team members of the Rural Clinical Education Team along with the IQM portfolio. Facilitates interprofessional collaboration, internally and externally to the organization, in the development of strategic program planning and evaluation to foster innovative care for specific patient populations to achieve desired patient outcomes. Expertise in leading and supporting professional practice. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative discipline specific and inter-professional collaborative practice. In depth knowledge of health care professional and AHS regulations, nursing standards, scope of practice, regulation and legislation related to the discipline/disciplines. Practical experience in policy development, professional practice learning and development, and project management. Knowledge and demonstrated application of project management and group facilitation skills. Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft suite. Tactical and operational thinking, considering short, mid and long term goals assessing options and implications. Effective verbal and written communicator with strong organizational skills, patient/client focused orientation and commitment to providing responsive, quality services. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within and across diverse teams. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation, build solid relationships, and influence change with multiple internal and external partners. Knowledge of the Alberta health care regulations and standards with a strong grasp of CCHSS. Location negotiable within Central Zone for successful applicant.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide an advanced level of nursing practice that maximizes the application of in-depth nursing theory, knowledge and skills in meeting the complex health care needs of individuals, families and communities. You will function as a nursing practice leader, consultant, expert practitioner, educator and researcher within a clinical specialty area. You will balance various roles depending upon the needs of the patient population and the healthcare team, collaborating on the provision of holistic and comprehensive care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Nursing. Extensive knowledge of rural Seniors Health clinical operations in Home Care; Long Term Care and/or Supportive Living experience is an asset. Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create clinical guidelines utilizing evidence based research. Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain trusting relationships with internal and external partners. Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and respond to complex clinical questions ensuring best practice and quality outcomes for clients. Committed role model for the AHS values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Strong knowledge of Case Management, Care Planning and Provincial MAP guidelines. Previous experience in development of policies, procedures, guidelines and/or protocols. Previous experience regarding Scopes of Practice in front line staff. Ability to work independently, multitask and set priorities. Driver's license and vehicle may be required for occasional travel for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

PROSCI certification, change management principles, Clinical Informatics Experience. Recent experience in participating or leading a research project. Previous experience as a Superuser for Connect Care, and as a member of zone and provincial committees or working groups. 10 years nursing experience in Rural healthcare. Previous experience with guiding researching and answering professional practice questions.
