Clinical Lab Assistant, Health Programs

Term of Employment: January, 2, 2026 to February 2027 or the day before the employee being replaced returns.

Rate of Pay:

$29.76 to $39.40 per hour

Location: Pembina Campus

Monday to Friday. 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (35 hours/week)



Reporting to the Academic Coordinator, the Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) is responsible for providing instructional support, facility supervision and maintenance, test invigilation, marking objective assessments, and general program area administrative tasks under the directions of the Program Manager or designate. The CLA assists in supporting students' independent learning, facilitates the inclusion of students in learning opportunities and encourages students to become independent learners and members of the classroom, school, and community. The CLA assists faculty in providing opportunities for student success. The Clinical Lab Assistant will be responsible for supporting laboratory simulation and other learning activities for the Health Program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Under the instructor's direction, the Clinical Lab Assistant must be able to:Facilitate instructional activities by supporting course delivery, demonstrations, and simulated learning experiences. Provide academic support through individualized or small-group skill development and remedial assistance. Assist student evaluation processes by supervising testing and supporting other assessment activities as required. Maintain a safe and compliant learning environment by promoting safety protocols and adherence to institutional policies. Model and reinforce institutional standards to ensure consistency with program and organizational expectations.


Teaching and Learning SupportSupport course delivery, demonstrations, and simulated learning activities. Provide individualized or small-group skills practice and remedial support. Monitor and reinforce student learning goals and program content. Collaborate with faculty on assessments, grading, and LMS updates. Assist in reviewing and reinforcing program materials assigned by the instructor. Assist in reinforcing and enforcing institutional and classroom policies for students. Meet standards of professional and ethical conduct in relation to students, families and colleagues.

Planning and PreparationPrepare and maintain classrooms, labs, and study areas; manage equipment setup and bookings. Monitor inventory, process supply orders, and maintain lab cleanliness and safety standards. Organize supplementary training, update course shells, and track practicum documentation.

Learning EnvironmentEnsure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment by enforcing policies and safety protocols. Foster positive student engagement and classroom management. Act on student feedback to improve learning experiences.

Interpersonal RelationshipsCommunicate fairly and consistently with students, respecting individual differences. Collaborate effectively with faculty and administrative staff to support program goals.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Science, kinesiology, Medical Office Assistant, or Health Care educational background. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related technical field. Strong Microsoft Office Skills.
