Clinical Informatics Specialist, Provincial CST Sustainment

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) reports to the Coordinator, Manager and/or designate and analyzes, diagnoses problems and formulates solutions for the design, optimization and integration of clinical workflow applications related to variety of clinical information systems. The role participates in the development and revision of electronic health record and clinical practice process redesign organizational and/or departmental clinical policies and procedures and champions a collaborative team-based framework that incorporates resources from other departments, programs, and vendor partners as it relates to clinical systems implementations.

The CIS utilizes their clinical experience and experience with computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical workflow and clinical change management to support Professional Practice, Digital Health/Information Management, clinical operations leaders, users (staff and clinicians) and other groups to enhance the effectiveness, validity and sustainability of clinical initiatives that support the transition to a fully integrated EHR.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Assesses, analyzes and diagnoses specialty specific clinical workflow assessments and translates requirements to digital health/information technology leads.
  • Gathers information from multiple clinical groups, project teams, and members of the organization and peer health authorities to assess technology gaps and clinical needs for providers and clinical users of the electronic health record system.
  • Provides expertise in system design and evaluation of clinical content, troubleshooting and end\xe2\x80\x93user support.
  • Executes the system design life cycle in the areas of design, content development, validation, implementation, stabilization and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated data dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support clinical uptake of electronic health and information records.
  • Participates in custom report development and data analysis for decision-making.
  • Liaises with the Digital Health department, organizational programs/departments and partner affiliates as the role and informatics specialty specific expert and resource on system wide practice and workflow change initiatives, practice innovation and redesign, documentation/nomenclature standards and the electronic health record.
  • Identifies and assists in the development of new and changing role and specialty specific functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of clinical information systems.
What you bring
  • Graduation from a recognized two-year diploma program such as Nursing Unit Clerk or Pharmacy Technician, plus three (3) years\xe2\x80\x99 recent related experience an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • May require the use of a vehicle for which mileage is reimbursed in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
  • May be required to travel, work different shift hours and weekends/STATs in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
