We are currently looking to hire an:

Clinical Educator



1 - Full-Time, 1 Year Contract (35 hours per week)



Reporting To:

Director - Community Health Teams

Purpose:



The Clinical Educator plays a key role in advancing excellence in client-centred, equitable, and evidence-informed care at Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities (SCHC). This position is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating education, training, and professional development initiatives that build clinical and interprofessional capacity across SCHC's health and social service programs. Guided by best practices, current standards, and organizational priorities, the Clinical Educator fosters continuous learning, supports the integration of new knowledge and skills into practice, and champions quality improvement. Working collaboratively with staff, physicians, students, and community partners, the Clinical Educator ensures that education initiatives strengthen SCHC's ability to provide accessible, safe, and culturally responsive care for the diverse communities we serve.

Key Areas of Responsibility:



Design, deliver, and evaluate education programs (orientation, in-service, and continuing professional development) that enhance staff, volunteer, and student learning across SCHC's clinical and community programs. Facilitate innovative learning activities that strengthen clinical knowledge, interprofessional teamwork, cultural humility, trauma-informed approaches, and client-centered care. Support the integration of best practice guidelines, research evidence, and quality improvement initiatives into day-to-day practice, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and SCHC priorities. Act as a mentor, coach, and resource for staff and students, promoting reflective practice, professional growth, and resilience. Enable regulated health professionals to work to their full scope of practice, while fostering skill development and role clarity within interprofessional teams. Collaborate with managers and program leads to identify emerging learning needs and design tailored education solutions that address organizational goals and client/community priorities. Contribute to staff performance reviews and developmental goals. Advance organizational capacity in health equity, anti-oppression, and culturally safe care, ensuring education reflects the needs of Scarborough's diverse communities. Build and sustain partnerships with academic institutions and external organizations to support student placements, professional development opportunities, and knowledge exchange. Contribute to organizational learning and leadership by participating in committees, working groups, and Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) activities. Ensure that all education initiatives are grounded in SCHC's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and quality care.

Level of Experience:



Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience in a community health, primary care, hospital or related healthcare setting. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an educator, facilitator or mentorship role, preferably in the health care of a community-based environment.

Qualifications and Skills:



Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or equivalent. Master's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Education, or related discipline (preferred). Current registration and good standing with the appropriate Ontario regulatory college (e.g., CNO, COTO, CPO, CRPO). Current CPR certification. Demonstrated experience and leadership in clinical practice within a community or healthcare setting. Completion of an Adult Learning Theory course or Certificate (preferred). Strong teaching, facilitation, and curriculum development skills. Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and support diverse learners. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care. Ability to travel across SCHC sites; valid driver's license is an asset.

Significant Working Conditions



Flexibility of hours - Evenings and weekend work will be required. Traveling as required to support program planning and delivery of services.
