A casual Clinical Dietitian II is being sought to support the nutrition service needs of the Community Supports, Personal Care Home and Community Care Home Programs within the Eastern Zones of NLHS.The Clinical Dietitian II is responsible and accountable for the provision of competent, safe and ethical clinical nutrition services when working within these programs. This includes providing food and nutrition expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical care to clients/residents with diverse nutritional needs. Clinical dietitian services are provided in healthcare settings that include community and long-term care homes with adult and older adult populations. The dietitians\' practice will include standard, advanced and specialized nutrition care including the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition, provision of medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education and coordination of nutrition care.The dietitian is an active member of the interdisciplinary care team, educates team members on the importance of nutrition in improving patient/client/resident outcomes, and participates in interdisciplinary team meetings/rounds as required. Communication with food service personnel in the oversight of food provision and to assist in clinical nutrition decision making is required. Engagement in practice, program and quality improvement initiatives is required. Competency in the provision of standard, advanced and specialized nutrition care must be demonstrated and maintained while working in this role. Current Advanced Food Safety Certification is required while working in this role. In support of the NL Health Services Dietetic Internship Program, the dietitian preceptors\' dietetic interns and contributes nutrition expertise to program delivery.Specific duties related to the Clinical Dietitians role in each program are provided below:Personal Care Home Program and Community Care Homes Program: The Clinical Dietitian II is part of an inter-disciplinary team responsible for the monitoring and licensing of Personal Care Homes and Community Care Homes. This includes the monitoring of activities and reports related to nutrition and food service for assigned Personal Care Homes and Community Care Homes to ensure compliance to the Personal Care Home Program Operational Standards (revised April 2007) and the Personal Care Home Regulations 2001. There is a possibility of afterhours/weekend monitoring that may be required as part of the monitoring process. The Clinical Dietitian II collaborates with the inter-professional health care team in the provision of nutrition care; provides counselling/education to residents and staff of Personal Care Homes and Community Care Homes; participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, annual review meetings and investigations of complaints and completion of inspections which may require visits after hours and on weekends; and completes monthly statistical reports as required.Community Support Program: The Clinical Dietitian II with the Community Support Program is a vital member of the inter-disciplinary team. Responsibilities involve participating in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nutrition programs and services and responding to referrals from health professionals for nutrition assessment/counselling in the community setting. The Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition education and consultative services to Community Support Program staff and clients. In addition, the Dietitian participates in internal and external committees to promote nutrition, develop resources, and provide nutrition expertise.This position reports to the program manager where they are providing coverage, which will include the Manager the of Personal Care Home Program, the Division Manager of the Community Supports Program or the Manager of the Community Care Homes Program and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Dietitians for integrity and professional practice.Job Demands

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent from an accredited university program and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.
Current registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians (NLCD) is required.
Prior experience as a Clinical Dietitian is an asset.
