Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Clinical Dietician 2 to join the Long Term Care team at George Pearson Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Dietician 2 you will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of clinical nutrition services to a resident population with varying physical and cognitive disabilities.
  • Participate as member of the interdisciplinary care team in the development and evaluation of specified nutrition care plans for residents.
  • Apply knowledge, skill and clinical experience to assess, develop and evaluate nutrition care plans and monitor outcomes.
  • Prepare progress notes and reports in Resident\xe2\x80\x99s Health Record.
  • Provide counseling and education to residents that facilitate optimal nutrition intake and support health maintenance.
  • Monitor the resident\xe2\x80\x99s nutritional status and the delivery of nutrition services to ensure nutritious meals are available to the residents in a timely and appropriate manner and recommends improvements in food delivery.
  • Review menus and make recommendations for improvement based on the Canada Food Guide and standards of best practice.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Current full registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • Two years clinical dietetic experience in a community care or long term care setting or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Long Term Care and gerontological nutrition
  • Knowledge of swallowing disorders and related nutritional issues related to disability/degenerative diseases.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess residents with diverse nutrition problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think critically.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical direction to non-professional staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practice guidelines and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and coordinate work assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience with utilizing various wordprocessing, spreadsheet and nutrition-related computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
