Job Description

Sinai Health is looking for a Clinical Coordinator to support our Emergency Department at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.


As a member of the Nursing Leadership team, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily operations in the Emergency Department (ED) including program planning, supporting clinical practice and quality improvement activities, and monitoring performance metrics. The Clinical Coordinator is a key support for Phase 3A Redevelopment and the ED operational readiness and staff preparedness, such as through leading and supporting required training and orientation. As a key member of the nursing team, the Clinical Coordinator will collaborate with the Patient Care Manager (PCM), Clinical Nurse Specialist and all members of the Emergency Department interprofessional team to participate in and support development and implementation of departmental goals, and a safe workplace culture.




About the Emergency Department




Mount Sinai Hospital's Emergency Department is dedicated to delivering family-centered emergency care to the community, with approximately 61,000 annual visits. The care delivery system operates on a modified Primary Nursing model, and medical directives have been established to encourage and uphold autonomous nursing practice within the emergency specialty. Prioritizing nursing orientation, we have customized it to address the specific needs of individual nurses.




In this role you will:




Support and maintain the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of the Department of Nursing Contribute to improvements in patient care and safety through supporting the consistent practice of patient care standards and leading the implementation of best practice guidelines in the Emergency Department Participate in the daily operations of the Emergency Department both in collaboration with and in the absence of the PCM through the recognition and management of staffing, public relations, and operational and technological issues that arise. Utilize electronic systems and performance measurement tools to audit department performance, highlight opportunities for improvement and initiate quality improvement interventions through staff education and system-level changes Monitor and facilitate patient flow through the department in collaboration with the nursing Team Leaders, ED leadership team and community partners Facilitate the review and development of relevant clinical guidelines, policies and procedures Maintain a safe and healthy work environment through the monitoring and trending of safety reports, liaising with Infection Control and undertaking safety and security initiatives Participate in + the development, implementation and evaluation of quality and safety initiatives
+ Emergency Department redevelopment planning as needed
+ unit-based committees such as the Unit Council and Renew Sinai committees as needed
In collaboration with the PCM, participate in Occupational Health and Safety Unit assessments and interventions, and in Quality and Risk Management as it relates to safety reporting and managing patient/family concerns. Supports recommendations stemming from quality reviews and safety reports. Support the Team Leader with issues regarding patient flow, patient complaints, risk issues, supply and/or equipment needs Maintain and monitor information technology systems that support practice (e.g. clinical documentation and workload measurement systems, including those related to new or existing equipment) Support improvements in patient care through the application of standards of practice, documentation reviews, and promotion of the development of critical thinking and analytical skills Collaborate with the PCM to ensure fiscally responsible product management and works with staff and others in the implementation of new products and technologies Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required Job Requirements

Job Requirements




Mandatory


BScN/BN degree in a health care field Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) 3-5 years current experience in Adult Emergency Membership in professional nursing organizations and evidence of continuing education




Preferred


Masters degree in a health care field Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Emergency Previous leadership experience preferred (e.g. formal leadership role, team leader or resource nurse in Emergency setting)
