Your opportunity

Our ESG Services team is looking for a Climate Manager to join BDO's ESG team to support the delivery of climate strategy development, decarbonization planning and implementation, and GHG reporting services to clients across a range of industries.

Our growing ESG practice provides a range of advisory services to clients in both the private and public sectors. Core services include sustainability and ESG strategy and reporting, risk assessments, climate change strategy development and ESG program enablement. This position can be filled from anywhere in Canada.

  • Manage clients with quantification of climate-related impacts, target-setting and decarbonization opportunities.
  • Manage the development of climate-related risk reduction and remediation strategies and performance monitoring
  • Develop ESG programs in-line with the requirements of TCFD framework requirements and other leading ESG frameworks (SASB, GRI, etc.)
  • Quantify Scope 1, Scope 2 & Scope 3 emissions in line with greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols
  • Manage the development of informative, compelling and persuasive client-facing project deliverables, presentations and collateral materials using your command of publishing resources (including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Support client relationships and business development initiatives such as leading proposals, identifying new target clients, and develop ESG-related "go to market" strategies

Your experience and education
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant applied climate and ESG experience in industry and/or consulting
  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Sustainability or Business is preferred
  • Experience in enabling ESG programs in-line with TCFD and other leading ESG frameworks (GRI & SASB)
  • Experience in providing decarbonization advisory services aligned with Science-based Targets, Net Zero strategies, and quantification of GHG Scope1, 2 and 3 emissions
  • Experience with GHG quantification frameworks
  • Advisory and/or assurance experience associated with sustainability, environmental and/or greenhouse gas reporting considered an asset
  • Understanding of setting organizational boundaries (i.e., Consolidation Approaches - Equity Share, Financial Control, Operational Control)
  • Understanding of climate change related risks and opportunities, including TCFD scenario analysis
  • Understanding of emissions reporting in accordance with global sustainability reporting frameworks (i.e., SASB, GRI, TCFD, UN SDGs etc.)
  • The ability to analyze new and emerging trends in the business, risk, and environment, social and governance (ESG) landscape
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work on multiple or complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to maintain strong client relationships
  • Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset
