Position Summary


This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support VCC Salon and Spa daily operations. The incumbent is the first point of contact and is responsible for ensuring a positive and helpful environment for clients, staff and students. The Salon and Spa reception area is a high-traffic, open workspace where working conditions can be demanding. This position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.


Duties & Responsibilities


Offers exceptional clients services when greeting clients upon arrival and over the telephone, confirming appointments and answering questions about services.

Consistently promotes and provides a high-standard of service by keeping a friendly, positive attitude with every client and team member in the department.

Offers the highest level of personalized service with the ability to remain calm and gracious while addressing stressful situations.

Books and confirms appointment services both in person and on the telephone efficiently;

Oversees daily salon and spa schedules and appointments.

Performs transactions including payment processing, cash handling and daily sales reconciliation and reporting.

Informs clients about services and product specials.

Assists in retail sales and provides information on products offered at VCC Salon and Spa,

Clearly conveys a complete understanding of pricing and descriptions for available services and product lines.

Answers a multi-line telephone promptly and professionally, offering consistent professional, engaging and friendly support.

Maintains merchandise displays with detailing and fronting products for proper selling position.

Maintains proper signage on all displays.

Ensures reception and waiting area is safe and free of obstructions and hazards.

Handles client concerns as they arise, documenting and following through to their full resolution, referring complex issues to manager.

Performs cash handling and related business operations duties;

Assist with quarterly inventory.

Performs a variety of tasks related to assisting salon operations, including stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area.

Assists in department events and functions.

Performs other related duties as required.




Qualifications


Education and Experience

Grade 12 including up to 1 year industry related customer service and retail experience; Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Experience with customer booking Software (such as Milano). Experience with Point of Sale (POS). An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.


Skills and Abilities

Knowledgeable about all aspects of Salon and Spa operations and programs. Understanding and knowledge on professional product lines. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and outside clients. Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrates ability to prioritize in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to problem solve. Must be self-directed, motivated, and demonstrate exceptional customer service. Must be able to show confidence and initiative in job performance. Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.


Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE


PAYGRADE 18 - $26.64 - $30.86 hourly ($1864.8 - $2160.2 bi-weekly)
