Job Description

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) admits 40 New Brunswick students each year, providing them the opportunity to study medicine in their home province at a variety of different teaching sites. Reporting to the Operations Manager, and to the Faculty Clerkship Site Director, the Clerkship Coordinator will clerically coordinate the clerkship for third and fourth year students of the MD program and support the activities of the Medical Education Department.
Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of departmental, faculty, university and national association policies and procedures to ensure that accreditation requirements are met.
  • Clerically coordinate the clerkship schedule, communicate approved schedule changes; prepare schedule and communicate the schedule to students.
  • Act as a primary resource person on-site for faculty, facility and DMNB staff on administration and coordination of the Med 3 and Med 4 Clerkship.- Receive elective requests from Dalhousie, non-Dalhousie Canadian and International students; review and accept electives as required.
  • Clerically coordinate the non-clinical delivery of the Med 3 and Med 4 clerkship at the site; provide orientation to students on logistical site requirements.
  • Support the faculty appointment and reappointment process; monitor faculty and department information, ensuring information is up to date and accurate and is communicated to the Medical Education leadership, clinical department heads and Chief of Staff as needed.
Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on the hospital site.

Required Qualifications

Business/Office Administration diploma with approximately three years' related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel) and database systems is required. Knowledge of Banner, DalMedix and One-45 would be beneficial. Excellent communication and organization skills are required with the ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to manage and organize workload, multi-task and meet a variety of deadlines. Additionally, must be able to exercise initiative, work independently and handle sensitive and confidential student issues with considerable tact.
Assets

Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment would be considered an asset.
