This position is to act as clerk of the Court during Provincial Offences court sessions and to perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of the provincial offences administration office. To process a variety of documents governed by the applicable provincial and municipal act and regulations. This position will also perform duties of a verbatim court recording monitor at sittings of the provincial offences courts as assigned. Training and mentoring new staff as required. Providing assistance to the public, judiciary and legal community.

Role and Responsibilities

Clerk of the court duties which include, opening and closing court sessions, arraigning accused, swearing interpreters and witnesses. Endorsing information/offence notices.
Carries out duties prior to court to have schedules, court dockets and documents available and up to date.
Updates the case records in the icon system following court sittings and judicial decisions.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with staff, the legal profession, Judiciary, enforcement agencies and the general public.
Proven ability to work under pressure in a high volume environment and to work independently, with interruptions and meet deadlines.
Receives, files and enters into icon new charges and court related documents from the enforcement agencies, justices of the peace and public
Receives, distributes and balances cash and/or mail payments to court records to cash register and cash floats
Conducts business with the public, the legal profession, the judiciary and enforcement agencies at the counter, over the telephone and through the mail.
Proven computer and accurate data entry skills; working knowledge of word and excel software.
Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures. Knowledge of provincial offences administration, knowledge of icon, the ability to apply the policies, procedures and legislative requirements governing the administration of the provincial offences act.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and must be able to reach overhead to store items on and obtain items from a shelf. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to work on and from a computer screen and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is subject to interruptions, priority shifts and deadlines. Usual hours of work are 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Required to interact with the public and to manage stressful situations involving difficult customers.
Qualifications and Education

Completion of 2 year community college program in 'court services'
Up to 2 years' previous experience working in an environment governed by legislation and legislative rules and regulations. Previous cashier, bookkeeping and/or icon computer system experience an asset.
Competitive Compensation

$27.38 - $32.03 as per the 2025 non-union wage grid
