Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Manager in Health Information Services (HIS), the Customer Service Specialist (CSS) will adopt an all encompassing model that will address all requests for confidential health information in a professional manner. This will include, but is not limited to, inquiries regarding physician dictation and transcription of reports. Completion of requests for access of information including research, release of information to facilitate ongoing patient care and emergency access to information for patient treatment. Receives system user issues/concerns for STAR Patient Processing System, Dictaphone (Job Lister, ESIG), OPIS, 3M and the One Content System and determines appropriate action 24 hours a day, 7 days/week for all sites within the district. Capable of performing all duties identified as "Key Work Activities" in an accurate and timely manner by ensuring patient information is available for ongoing patient care. The CSS must have exceptional problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to work independently in a mature manner.

Qualifications

  • Grade XII plus one year post-secondary business, secretarial, or office management diploma
  • One year related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a health-related field preferred
  • Demonstrated self-starter and problem solver
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel and Intranet
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$20.25 - $22.50 Hourly
