The Job - Cleaner / Packer- Contents Technician



At On Side, Cleaner Packers, also known as Contents Technicians show up every day with a can-do attitude and desire to help. This team does vital work helping clients save precious possessions and memories with empathy, compassion, and hard work.

When disaster strikes, Contents Technician teams are deployed to restore order out of chaos and clean up the aftermath. Working on site and in the On Side warehouse means no day or disaster is ever the same.

Contents Technicians are responsible for:



Working with customers to restore personal and commercial items to pre-disaster state

Packing and cataloging contents from disaster affected areas and creating inventory lists

Using Encircle Restoration Software

Cleaning contents and structures

Cleaning fabrics and textiles

What you bring:



An optimistic outlook and a real desire to help

Exceptional organizational skills

Physically fit (ability to lift, carry and pack boxes) and willingness to follow all company safety requirements

Valid driver's licence & clean drivers abstract

Able to successfully satisfy On Side's criminal record check requirements

Ability to communicate in English or French (QC) at an intermediate level

Past industry experience that can translate into success in this job:



hotel, hotel housekeeper, tourism, hospitality, dry cleaning, laundry services, restaurant, restaurant manager, supervisor, server, customer service, waitress, waiter, bartender, bartending, banquet, concierge, travel, tour guide, sales, industrial or commercial cleaner, mover, packer.

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

Have you ever experienced a home that had flood or fire damage? Are you organized and can clearly list contents that you have packed? Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Do you have computer and/or tablet/iPad experience? Are you comfortable navigating and using applications for photos and recording information while on site? Restoration work can be dirty. Flooded basements and sewer backups are the norm. Are you able and willing to work in these conditions? Are you able to work independently or part of a team? Do you have a preference? If you have a preference, please tell us why. Are you able to work later than scheduled when required?
A job sometimes requires an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid.

Do you have reliable transportation? How would you rate your English proficiency in both written and spoken communication? Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule?
This is additional to scheduled daytime hours. We are disaster relief so there is an Emergency On-Call requirement for all employees.

Are you physically fit? Can you lift 50lbs when required? Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving furniture and boxes are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement.

Packing (contents in a home): 1 year (preferred) Residential Cleaning: 1 year (preferred) Demolition: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driving Licence (required)
Work Location: In person
