Based out of our Saskatoon Plant, we are hiring a full-time Class 1 Driver to be a part of our team.



The Class 1 Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles while following instructions and routes from the Fleet Dispatcher or Fleet Superintendent. The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when interacting with customers. Often viewed as the face of the Company, Drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public.



This is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive scheduled routes to appointed customer destinations based on instructions from the Fleet Dispatcher and/or Fleet Superintendent Pick up high volumes of material from various locations which include processors, abattoirs, packing houses, butcher shops, supermarkets, retailers, etc., while following strict guidelines for specified risk material handling Monitor Raw material loads from customers into containers or trailers, and unload raw material loads from trucks and trailers as per pit dumping rules Maintain tools, equipment, and spill response kits Understand the conveyance clean and disinfect standard operating procedures Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections Load materials from customers and customer locations into bone and fat trucks Unload materials at transfer stations from bone and fat trucks if applicable Ensure the safe and proper handling of raw material picked-up from customers Ensure the safe and proper handling of deadstock pick-up from customers As per Receiving and Processing Used Cooking Oils standard operating procedures, pick up used cooking oil from bins, barrels, Frontline, and other customer bulk cooking oil tanks Empty grease trucks as required Ensure site is clean prior to and after departure when collecting used cooking oil Observe, inspect, and monitor grease bins for leaks or other damages Report damaged or unclean grease bins to Fleet Dispatcher immediately Maintain tools and equipment (hoses, grease tools, wands, extensions, etc.), and spill response kits Report issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance, damaged containers and/or equipment or Customer to the Fleet Maintenance / Dispatcher in a timely manner Operate all equipment safely and efficiently Follow safety protocols and other procedures as dictated by WCRL or the customer's requirements Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values

QUALIFICATIONS & FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver's Licence with a clean abstract Knowledge and/or experience with vacuum truck pumps an asset 3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment an asset Strong knowledge of the of surrounding areas Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills Familiarity with operating hydraulic equipment required Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance Physically capable of lifting container lids, climbing ladders, and pull-on cable hooks, and other heavy tools on a frequent basis Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
