Position Overview:



We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious

Class 1 Driver

to join our dedicated day shift team. In this specialized role, you'll operate our modern walking floor trailer fleet supporting our valued customer partnerships. Working alongside our dedicated team of professional drivers, you'll be responsible for safely transporting bulk agriculture, landscape products and garbage primarily on Calgary routes with occasional out-of-town work, including specific routes that require daily round-trip runs between Calgary and Edmonton.

Key Responsibilities

(including but not limited to):

Safely operate company walking floor trucks to transport materials from customer locations to disposal sites, with a route that may include a daily round-trip routes between Calgary and Edmonton. Execute precise loading and unloading procedures specific to walking floor trailer operations, ensuring safe handling throughout the transport cycle. Navigate Calgary routes and Highway 2 corridor efficiently while maintaining adherence to all traffic regulations and company safety protocols. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily, checking tires, lights, brakes, hydraulic systems, and specialized walking floor equipment. Monitor vehicle condition and performance throughout your shift, identifying and reporting any safety concerns or mechanical issues immediately. Maintain accurate and timely Electronic Log Device (ELD) records for all trips and ensure compliance with hours-of-service regulations. Complete comprehensive inspection reports, trip documentation, and delivery confirmations in a timely manner. Prepare and submit maintenance reports, incident reports, and any other required documentation according to company standards. Always ensure compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and Weight and Dimensions requirements. Represent Cutting Edge Logistics professionally during all interactions with ECCO personnel and receiving facility staff. Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding scheduling, route conditions, delays, or operational concerns. Adapt to occasional changes in routing or assignments as business needs require. Participate actively in all required safety training and certification programs to maintain your professional development.

Qualifications:



Valid Class 1 driver's license in good standing with minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience. Clean drivers abstract required for insurance purposes. Experience operating 18-speed transmissions considered a strong asset. Walking floor trailer experience is beneficial. Familiarity with Calgary-Edmonton corridor highway driving is an advantage. Previous Super-B driving experience considered an asset. Must successfully pass a company road test during the interview process to demonstrate driving competency. Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is mandatory. Willingness to participate in and complete required safety training, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Weight and Dimensions certification. Strong ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety issues. Proven ability to accurately complete required documentation, electronic logging, and reporting in a timely manner. Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules and operational requirements as needed.
