The Heavy-Duty Delivery Driver will be responsible for completing assigned deliveries in entirety, which includes working with the yard crew to load equipment, ensuring that loaded equipment is properly secured for delivery, offloading equipment at delivery sites, communicating with customers, communicating with other staff members, and any other tasks related to equipment delivery. This role will be required to drive multiple classes of trucks, including 1-A trucks, 3-A trucks, class 5 trucks with trailers, and other vehicles as assigned. This role will be required to conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment at jobsites as necessary, potentially under the direction of a mechanic or service manager over the phone. The position will be required to complete basic truck maintenance, including cleaning trucks, checking and adding fluids, adding grease to parts, and other such duties. This role may be assigned other duties as business needs dictate. The 1-A driver will be required to log information in Texada and Fleetlogic in order to document necessary information.
Job Duties
Complete deliveries of equipment using various sizes of trucks and trailers.
Operate equipment to facilitate delivery, pickup, or movement and storage. This includes operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and other pieces of rental equipment.
Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles and submit completed Drivers Log Sheets on a weekly basis.
Ensure correct loading of vehicles and ensure that all loads are properly secured in accordance with local, provincial and/or federal regulations.
Operate vehicles in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Record detailed information on pick-ups and deliveries, including vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems encountered. Log information into Fleetlogic and Texada as required.
Maintain high level of communication with central dispatch, supervisors, and customers.
Load and unload products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.)
Conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment on jobsites as necessary, potentially under the direction of a mechanic or service manager over the phone.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, in accordance with local, provincial and/or federal regulations.
Communicate effectively with the customers and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
Assist in loading and unloading of equipment.
Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that loads are properly fastened down and secure.
Provide feedback to supervisor regarding issues, concerns, and improvement suggestions.
Be responsible for handling company fuel and credit cards and submit all receipts weekly.
Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspections, hours of service, etc.
Requirements
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
Valid 1-A Driver's License.
2 years of experience.
Acceptable driver's abstract.
Ability to navigate mobile phone applications to complete digital paperwork.
Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and equipment to allow for basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
Strong oral and written communication.
Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
High level of personal integrity.
Strong work ethic.
Professional demeanor under stressful situations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.

Working Conditions
Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors, including during inclement weather.

Ability to lift 100 pounds.
CSA-approved steel-toe boots required.
