Class 1 Driver - Compost Facility, Portage La Prairie

Summary:

The Class 1 Driver will report to the Facility Manager and is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of compost materials using company vehicles. This role plays an important part in supporting facility operations, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups while maintaining high safety and environmental standards. This position combines hands-on operational responsibilities with commercial driving, contributing to the overall safety and productivity goals of the operations team. The individual must have a valid Class 1 driver's license and adhere to all safety regulations and maintaining vehicle integrity.

Responsibilities:

Transport materials, compost products, and equipment using company trucks; ensure safe and timely delivery and pickup according to assigned routes. Conduct vehicle inspections, report maintenance issues, and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately. Depending on the candidates, the position may include, operating heavy equipment such as loaders, screens, grinders safely and efficiently. Depending on the candidates, the position may include, monitoring, processing, and managing incoming organic materials and outgoing compost products in compliance with site procedures and environmental standards. Qualifications:

Must have a valid Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience operating heavy equipment and/or working in composting, waste management, or agricultural environments is an asset. In-depth understanding of safe cargo handling, load securement, and transportation regulations. Strong understanding of workplace safety and environmental best practices. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in outdoor, demanding environments. Effective communication and time-management skills. Safety oriented

Requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada. Strong adherence to Catapult safety policies and protocols. Ability to work a flexible schedule including shift rotations, weekends, and overtime as required. Must have a valid Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record. Must complete and pass pre-employment screening including criminal record check, drug and alcohol testing and others as may be required. Physical ability to perform manual labor and equipment operation in varying weather conditions.
