Clamp Truck Operators are responsible for performing the safe and efficient handling and loading of various types of paper products on site. Working in a customer-oriented environment, the Clamp Truck Operator must work well in teams to maximize efficiency and safety, while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus.


Roles & Responsibilities




Efficiently and safely operate truck and control movement of lifting apparatus Position forks or clamps under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, paper rolls or materials and transport load to designated area. Load or unloads materials onto or off of trailers, rail cars, pallets, skids, or lifting device Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device Operate industrial truck in safe manner and adhere to all safety rules, guidelines and practices Follow rules, special instructions, and handling and loading movements while working on the customer site; ensure compliance with all applicable operating rules, procedures and regulations imposed by government, the customer, and/or Cando Complete paperwork such as daily reports, equipment logs, and shipping documents Listen to, understand, and act on customer issues and/or concerns Ensure work areas such as finishing floor, train shed floor, and common areas are kept clean and free of debris using sweeper when necessary Create safe work permits from standard permits for all equipment in the train shed and warehouse Participate in training or company initiatives as required

Skills, Knowldge & Abilities




Excellent teamwork skills; ability to positively participate in group of individuals driving commitment and engagement Ability to operate and maintain a Clamp Truck including ability to change clamps/fork and exchange propane cylinders Ability to learn product tracking systems, shipping patters, and safe equipment usage and maintenance Ability to perform the day-to-day activities surrounding the finishing, loading, shipping, and warehousing activities of the customer Physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from a clamp truck and railcar on a daily basis, able to perform daily maintenance on clamp trucks

Education & Experience




Experience with the safe operation and general maintenance of clamp trucks Knowledge in safe work practices in a loading and shipping environment
