Responsibilities
As a Claim Adjuster your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Receive, process, and investigate a variety of claims to verify whether specific insurance policies and insurance coverage apply prior to determine claim settlements
  • Interview witnesses, review police reports, assess hospital records, and gather other investigative information to determine damage and liability to then communicate with claimants
  • Negotiate with claimants to settle each claim and work with attorneys to defend insurer's position if a claim is contested
  • Record accurate data, evidence, testimonies, and statements in comprehensive reports as part of the insurance claims process
  • Remain updated on insurance industry protocols and policy changes to ensure proper fulfillment of all insurance claims
Qualifications
As a Claims Adjuster your qualifications include, but not limited to:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, high school diploma mandatory
  • Job seekers must possess an insurance license
  • General knowledge of the insurance industry, insurance claims process, and related state and federal regulations
  • Solid time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize while managing multiple claims at once
  • Strong integrity and critical-thinking abilities complemented by effective skills related to clear communication, negotiation, and customer satisfaction
  • Basic computer skills and command of Microsoft Office required, experience with accounting software a plus
