Philson Ltd, a leading Heavy Civil Contractor located in the Fredericton Region is seeking the right candidate to join our team as a Civil Technician.

General Description

Philson Ltd has been in business since 1993 and is active in local civil markets such as site development, road building, underground utilities, and water/wastewater treatment.

As a Civil Technician you would primarily be responsible for survey and construction layout on Heavy Civil construction projects that typically range from $500,000 to $15,000,000 in value. You would work in a collaborative environment with the Survey Manager, Superintendents and the Estimating/Project Management team.

Summary of Tasks

Layout of various Heavy Civil construction projects. Creating As-Built drawings. Preparing Volumetric Take Offs. Interpreting project plans and specifications. Extracting and preparing layout data from Client supplied plans and CAD files and reviewing for omissions/discrepancies. Developing 3D Machine Control Models. Mentoring and training Site Foremen on layout procedures and best practices. Conducting topographical surveys and generating 3D volumes for quantification and/or payment. Measuring and quantifying installed underground services and horizontal surfaces for payment. Managing and maintaining inventory of GPS Survey and machine control equipment. Tracking on-site production rates versus assumed rates in Cost Estimate and providing "snapshots" to Estimating team. Assist Senior & Project Superintendents with on-site QA/QC as required. Active participation in the Company Health & Safety Program. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Canadian Citizenship The Successful candidate would ideally have at least a CET or P.Tech designation/diploma. At least two years of experience in civil construction or engineering. Experience in construction survey and layout Proficiency in CAD Programs. Proficiency with Topcon GPS equipment and MAGNET software would be considered an asset. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word Ability to work independently.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
