As a Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing bid documents and preparing quantity and cost evaluations for the civil scopes of construction projects. You will also be involved in the development of the execution plan as well as the development of the schedule during the pre-project phase. The civil estimator must have a strong background in execution of civil works.

This position is based in our office in Oakville, Ontario.
Responsibilities
--------------------
Prepare cost estimates on work for major projects locally and across Canada with the help of the estimation team.
Review the owner's plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project.
Carry out an assessment of the quantities as well as the labour and equipment required to carry out the work.
Carry out material surveys and participate in the evaluation of costs for the supply of permanent materials.
Participate in the creation of tender proposals for subcontracting, coordination with bidders as well as the analysis of proposals. Ability to analyze the proposals at the commercial and technical level.
Participate in developing a construction plan which will serve as the basis for the estimate.
Participate in estimate coordination meetings as well as the various stages of closing bids.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as the planning, procurement and proposal teams.
Maintain a professional and trusting relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
------------------
At least 8 years of relevant experience in construction/project estimation.
Have a complete and detailed knowledge of construction and construction methods in Canada.
Skills in reading plans and specifications.
Detail-oriented and skilled in first principles estimating
Experience in self-performed execution of concrete scope on heavy civil construction projects.
Good ability to prioritize and organize time effectively, ability to work independently and as part of an estimating team
Ability to travel on an as-needed basis
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
Excellent command of estimating software systems. Knowledge of BlueBeam and InEight Estimate is an asset.
Aptitude for learning new software systems is an asset.
Previous experience on a Kiewit-led project is an asset.
