Position Summary: Civil Estimator

Our Civil Estimator will be responsible for:

Reviewing project contracts, scope of work, drawings, specifications, standards, and other documents Performing civil takeoff of drawings and bills of material The accurate and timely preparation of full-cost heavy civil estimates for projects including materials, equipment, labour and subcontractors Review and establishment of unit costs, labour rates, equipment rates, productivity factors and location impacts Risk assessments when bidding and estimating on tender packages Compiling bid/proposal packages Creating Execution Plans and Project Schedules Defining Resource Allocation Chair internal pre-tender meetings, estimate reviews, and tender closing meetings Assist in developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Codes Oversee project initiation and handover to Operations Identify and develop policies and procedures for improved estimating processes Participate in project close out report and conduct lessons learned workshops Conduct variance reports to track validity of Estimates and actual productivity

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience required Minimum 3-5 years of estimating experience in Light/Heavy Civil industry required Knowledge and Competency of Microsoft Office suite applications required Project management and/or field supervisory experience considered an asset Familiarity with Primavera P6 Scheduling software considered an asset Familiarity with B2W Estimate software considered an asset Ability to develop professional relationships with customer representatives and officials from local agencies Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision Strong communication skills, both one-on-one and in group settings within and outside the organization
