POSITION OVERVIEW
Catalyst Engineering is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Designer that will work closely with the project team on a variety of civil engineering projects that range from multi-million dollar design build projects, municipal capital construction, and land development. The successful candidate will gain experience in design, project management and construction inspection. This position offers a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills, gain industry connections, and progress towards a professional designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and/or Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC.
JOB SCOPE AND TASKS
DESIGN & DRAFTING
Prepare design drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for various projects including utilities, drainage and roads projects
Perform onsite and offsite water, sewer and drainage servicing calculations
Develop site grading, stormwater management plans, and erosion and sediment control plans
Prepare erosion and sediment control plans
Prepare record drawings
PROJECT MANAGEMENT & COORDINATION
Administer projects to ensure scope, schedule and budget compliance
Prepare procurement documents, including request for proposals, request for quotation and tender documents
Facilitate meetings with clients, prepare meeting agenda and issues meeting minutes
Conduct site inspections and prepare regular inspection reports
Perform quantity take-offs and cost estimates
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
Registration as an AScT with Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC or as an Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
Certification or willingness to obtain certification as an Erosion & Sediment Control Lead (BC-CESCL)
EXPERIENCE
2 years of land development and/or municipal design experience
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in the application of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, while working in a team environment
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a remote position based in the Metro Vancouver Region; however, occasional site visits, field inspections, and in-person meetings may be required to fulfill project requirements.
COMPENSATION
At Catalyst Engineering, we believe in rewarding our employees with competitive compensation packages. The compensation for this role ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
