The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate field surveying, layout, and control services while also assisting in project coordination, planning, and documentation. This role requires a strong understanding of survey practices, construction processes, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field surveying using GPS and Total Station equipment.
Perform layout, control, and interpret as-built drawings.
Plan and conduct ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and geodetic measurements.
Verify the accuracy of survey data, including on-site measurements and calculations.
Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and terrain characteristics.
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and related survey documentation.
Work with pipe crews to successfully install underground infrastructure as per drawings and specifications.
Collaborate effectively with other jobsite personnel in a team environment.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and interpretation of contract drawings and specifications.
Maintain proper document control and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Coordinate contractor's review of shop drawings and submittals.
Liaise with design firms to support constructability reviews, RFI processes, and coordination of additional work.
Coordinate and provide instruction to subcontractors under the guidance of the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
Promote and adhere to Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3 years of field surveying experience in civil construction.
Proficiency with GPS and Total Station equipment.
Strong knowledge of survey calculations, geodetic principles, and construction layouts.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Strong organizational and document control skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and survey-related software.
