Civil Construction Estimator

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Civil Excavation Estimator to join our growing excavation company. Blackline Site Works Ltd. has created a large client base that continues to grow with developers and contractors throughout the Lower Mainland. We are seeking someone with the proper education and experience to bring their knowledge and expertise to our company.

The applicant will prepare civil cost estimates for various construction projects or services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of service. Additionally, they will provide leadership and oversight for secured projects. The Estimator is required to have a comprehensive understanding of civil construction and is responsible for taking ownership and delivering estimates of one or more bid tenders at a time.

The Civil Excavation Estimator will have the following duties and responsibilities that contribute to the overall success of the organization:

Job Responsibilities:



Understanding of blueprint drawings (specifically Civil Drawings)

Familiarity with bid tender processes and procedures

Preparation of estimates and quotations based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents

Attending tender site walkthroughs

Creation and tracking of purchase orders

Pricing and management of change orders

Office management and coordination for ongoing projects

Communication with site management for ongoing projects

Working jointly with Cost Controllers and Project Planners

Collaborate with management to identify upcoming projects and opportunities

Develop strong relationships with employees, clients and sub-contractors

Works with owner/operators to implement strategic plans, programs, and tools that support the business

Ensure project deadlines are achieved

Qualifications and Knowledge:



Qualification in civil engineering or related discipline with 3+ years relevant work experience in civil construction, cost estimating and cost control.

University Degree or technical diploma in Business Administration

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)

Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to proactively resolve conflicts in a timely and effective manner

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle

Willingness to work as part of a team, but also independently

Experienced resource planning and time management skills

Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking

Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, strong math skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
