Status: Full-Time,

Hours: 0700 - 1900 ( Subject to Change due Operation's Needs ),

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr.

Job Skills / Requirements
:

City of Brampton's Rapid Response will provide a uniform security presence at the various City of Brampton locations which includes; Rose Theatre, City Hall, Civic Centre and other Downtown Brampton facilities, properties, assets and events.

  • Responding to and reporting all incidents of criminal activity, suspicious activity and hazardous situations
  • Unlocking and locking doors and offices
  • Providing access control
  • Providing a uniform security presence within various locations and customer service areas
  • Deterring and enforcing prohibited acts such as loitering, panhandling, smoking, skateboarding and cycling
  • Ensuring the buildings are secured after hours
  • Completing patrols with the use of an electronic guard tour
Job Duties
  • Ability to work alone or in a team
  • Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols, and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
  • Ability to write detailed incident reports for all emergency and day to day activities
  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons
  • Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Logging in/out of Key, Radio and pager audits
  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
  • Report any unsafe working conditions in any/all departments
  • Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
  • Respond to all types of occurrences.

Requirement:
  • Successful completion of CPO certification within first 6 months (training material and course cost covered by Paladin)
At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:
1. Immunization Record
2. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
3. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
4. "G" Class Driver License or higher

1. Must provide drivers abstract. No more than 2 minor convictions, no major convictions, and no more than 6 demerits in the last three years.

Successful completion of the following requirements provided by Paladin are mandatory prior to placement:
1. First Aid & CPR - Level C
2. Management of Aggressive Behavior
3. Use of Force
4. Report Writing

1. Additional courses as assigned

Upon hire successful applicants will be required to complete the following Paladin online courses:
1. Successful completion of Paladin's online Customer Service
2. Successful completion of Paladin's online Patrol Procedures
3. Successful completion of Paladin's online Diversity Awareness
4. Successful completion of Paladin's online Finding The OHS Manual
5. Successful completion of Paladin's online Paladin OHS Orientation
6. Successful completion of Paladin's online Dealing with People with Mental Illness
7. Successful completion of Paladin's online Workplace Respect
8. Successful completion of Paladin's online Slips, Trips and Falls
9. Additional courses as assigned
