Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services IT has an exciting opportunity for a strong technical leader to join the Technology Infrastructure Services Team as a Citrix Application Virtualization Operations Architect. As a valued senior member of Application Virtualization team, you will architect, develop and support high level designs for the infrastructure required to support AHS Application Virtualization based projects and initiatives. Critical to this role will be the ability to work in a team environment and autonomously as well as the ability to work cooperatively with a variety of stakeholders including management, clinicians, vendors, software analysts and co-workers. Specifically, you will work on a team to support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (formerly XenApp and XenDesktop), Microsoft AppV and related infrastructure technologies. The ability to work with these critical systems under tight timetables using your proficient analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills will be key. Leveraging your proven communication, interpersonal and organization skills will also be crucial to your success as you will use your correlative conceptual and practical experience to interpret client's needs, assess their requirements, investigate, diagnose and resolve environmental problems, which are essential to business functions. Training on technologies relevant to the job requirements is provided. This position is eligible for Hybrid/Remote work within Alberta province.

Description:

Responsibilities include: Develop architecture capability, roadmaps and supporting solutions for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops to meet the goals of the AHS business and Technology Infrastructure Services strategy; Establish and maintain standards for Citrix configuration and maintenance procedures; Design, configure, and support the integrated components of the AHS Citrix Application Virtualization Infrastructure for highest attainable levels of system reliability, availability, and maintainability; Lead projects with limited size, risk, complexity, potentially including responsibility for expenditure monitoring and cost control; Resolve highly complex technical, infrastructure problems in close collaboration with other IT groups, vendors and engage relevant resources as appropriate; Explore new perspectives on existing information technology environments to find solutions to customer business needs; Contribute to the creation of guidelines, standards and processes by using strategies, such as Standard Operating Procedures and automation of workflows via scripting; Provide leadership and mentorship for colleagues with less experience; Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and major incident call-outs, as required.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in information technology, information sciences, or related discipline or a mix of related training and experience;
Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in a large and complex IT environment. Minimum 4 years of operational experience in supporting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops version 7.x or other Application Virtualization platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a healthcare environment. Experience with Microsoft AppV, AD and GPO. Citrix and/or Microsoft related IT certification. Experience with ControlUp monitoring, Citrix Netscaler is desired. Experience automating the environment using batch scripts,PowerShell,JavaScript or other relevant technologies. Experience providing technical guidance and mentoring to team members, providing recommendations for budget planning purposes and presenting ideas to senior management.
