Description:
The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a two-year appointment, renewable as funding allows.
At the (LW Lab) we build some of the world\'s largest radio correlators. Under the general direction of Prof. Keith Vanderlinde, the responsibilities of this position centre around design and implementation of high-throughput signal processing software for use on the Canadian Hydrogen Observatory and Radio-transient Detector (CHORD)\'s GPU-based correlator and beamformer, and on outlying antenna stations. The CHORD correlator will continuously process ~10 Tb/s of radio data, performing Peta-scale processing on a dedicated supercomputer cluster with 100+ GPUs and 1000+ CPU cores. With this position you will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge software and hardware, contribute to open-source software projects, and help to enable groundbreaking scientific discoveries. This position interacts with and supports other members of the CHORD collaboration, located at several universities across Canada & the US. In all these activities, there is the expectation that the appointee will supervise the work of undergraduates and graduate students.
The appointment is for two years, renewable for at least another two and further as funding allows. The start date is July 1, 2023 or as mutually agreed.
Applicants should apply online at the link below and include a covering letter, curriculum vitae and three reference names with their contact addresses and phone numbers. Any questions regarding this position should be directed to .
