Childminding Facilitator



Temporary Contract



8 hours/week



Start Date: November 1, 2025



End Date: December 16, 2025

We are seeking a patient, empathetic Indigenous individual with a passion for working with young children. The primary focus of the Childminder will be to provide safe and supportive care for children aged 1 month to 6 years while their parents/guardians participate in our drop-in programs. The Childminder will create a nurturing and engaging environment, promoting healthy development through play-based learning, focusing on cultural awareness and emotional well-being. The role requires collaboration with program facilitators to ensure seamless integration of childminding services into existing programming.

Key Responsibilities:



Supervise and engage children in play-based activities designed to promote emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual development

Provide a culturally inclusive environment that respects Indigenous cultural values, beliefs, and traditions

Assist children in expressing emotions, developing problem-solving skills, and building self-awareness and confidence

Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming space for children

Collaborate with facilitators on workshops and activities tailored to the needs of the children

Complete necessary documentation and reports as required by the program coordinator

Qualifications & Skills:



Previous experience working with children, preferably in a group setting

Knowledge or willingness to learn about Indigenous cultural practices

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to create a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for children

Additional Requirements:



Preference will be given to First Nations, Inuit, or Metis candidates (please self-identify)

Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs

Ability to get to and from location each day

First Aid and CPR certification required

Child intervention check required

Criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening required

Pay: $15.00-$21.00 per hour
