Location: SAGE House

NSCSS Position: Child Minder

Wage: $23.73 per hour

Hours of work: 4 days a week; 32 hours/ week

Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday or Sunday; daytime hours

Start and End Dates: June 9 - August 30, 2025

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides childcare and leads summer children's activities for the clients at the transition house and in the community programs. This is a good position for someone who loves children and who is interested in learning more about social service work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with children

Babysitter's certificate is preferred

Basic First Aid certificate is preferred (but we will provide training if needed)

Must be between the age of 19- 30 years

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Mature and level-headed

Must be flexible in day-to-day tasks and schedule

Must enjoy working with children

Must be able to take direction

Responsibilities

Provide attentive caregiving and support to children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Prepare snacks Engage children in fun recreational activities Maintain a clean and organized environment, including regular cleaning tasks Collaborate with moms and staff to address specific needs, including those of children with disabilities Help staff with other duties and tasks such as organizing, tidying or administrative tasks
This is a Canada Summer Jobs position, funded in part by the federal government. It is a condition of the funding that this position be filled by an applicant 30 years of age or younger. Applicants must also be Canadian citizens or a Permanent Resident.

North Shore Crisis Services Society provides a variety of services for women and their children who have experienced abuse. Because of the nature of our services, there is a level of personal risk involved in the day-to-day work. This position requires a criminal record check.
