Job Description

As part of a community-based team, Childminders play a key role in supporting Carya's program delivery. They assist program facilitators by providing care for children aged 0-6 while parents participate in programs and activities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Engagement and Program Delivery

Prioritize the safety, development, and relationship-building of children while attending and engaging with them. Apply best practices when interacting with children and treat parents as partners in shared experiences within our space. Adapt the childcare space to suit each program, incorporating play-based activities appropriate for the specific group. Ensure the space is tidied and all toys and equipment are properly stored after each session. Participate regularly in scheduled childminding team meetings (every 4-6 weeks). Respond to questions about the space and provide clear directions to bathrooms, waiting areas, and program rooms. Attend required training sessions. Ensure service delivery aligns with Carya's policies, procedures, and performance standards; provide flexible support, including during evening hours as needed.

Safety & Reporting

Report all Critical Incidents to the Childminding Coordinator or Program Facilitator and assist with related documentation. Collaborate with the Childminding Coordinator or Program Facilitator to report, document, and follow up on child protection concerns in accordance with Carya's policies and procedures. Identify and eliminate potential safety hazards in the play area; remain vigilant to emerging safety issues during each childminding session. Seek support from the Childminding Coordinator, program staff, or the child's caregiver to address challenging behaviors.
