Schedule: Monday-Friday Evening 4:30-9:30pm Number of hours: 30hrs per week

Childcare Worker, In Home Support Program We need someone that can work both childcare and domestic support. As the Childcare Worker your role is to provide direct support to Caregivers in meeting the daily needs of the children or youth placed in their homes. Although childcare is included in the delivery of supports, the primary role of the Childcare Worker is to assist with childcare while under the direct supervision of the Caregiver, or their designate (Babysitter, Respite Provider). Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children/youth
  • Assist with cooking meals and organizing snack.
  • Assist with children\xe2\x80\x99s daily routines relating to eating, resting, hygiene, and bathroom use
  • Change diapers of infants and toddlers as required
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities which may include outside play or structured developmental activities
  • Assist children with homework as required
  • Support the emotional and social development of children and youth
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning related to the general upkeep of the household; Sanitize toys and play equipment as needed
  • Accompany children to and from school, appointments, or outings as requested and agreed upon with the SFFA Program Coordinator and the Foster Parent or Caregiver
  • Identify any signs of a child\xe2\x80\x99s emotional or developmental challenges and discuss with the Foster Parent or Caregiver

Education
  • Minimum High School Diploma; Post Secondary education in early childhood education is considered an asset Experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1 years of relevant childcare experience in addition to education
  • Criminal Record Check inclusive of Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must have Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
  • Job experience preferred in one of the following fields: daycare, educational assistant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Effective organizational skills including time management, the ability to think clearly and logically, to problem solve effectively, and the ability to function with minimal supervision
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism regarding demeanor, dress, language, communication, and boundaries with co-workers, Foster Parents or Caregivers
  • Have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration
  • Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with and ability to remain calm during high stress situations
  • Impeccable working relationships and knowledge of partnering agencies
  • Ensuring personal self-care routines relating to mental, emotional, and physical health
