The Support Worker at Dorey Behavioural Services Inc. plays a direct care role in supporting individuals with behavioural, developmental, and complex needs across various service settings. Support Workers provide day-to-day assistance to clients, ensuring routines are followed, behavioural strategies are implemented, and client dignity and safety are upheld. This role requires compassion, consistency, and a strong commitment to trauma-informed, client-centered service delivery.
Responsibilities
Client Support & Daily Living
Assist clients with daily routines, including hygiene, meals, medications (as applicable), and community engagement.
Support the implementation of individualized support plans and behavioural strategies.
Encourage independence, inclusion, and personal growth in all areas of service.
Trauma-Informed Care
Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment for clients at all times.
Use approved de-escalation and behavioural support techniques as needed.
Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours while promoting client dignity and emotional well-being.
Documentation & Communication
Accurately complete shift logs, incident reports, and any required documentation.
Communicate clearly with the team and participate in shift handovers.
Report observations or concerns about client well-being to the Shift Lead.
Environment & Safety
Contribute to the upkeep and cleanliness of client spaces and shared environments.
Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures as directed.
Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues immediately.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other support staff, Shift Leads, and Management.
Participate in team meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain professionalism and respect in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
Requirements
High-School Diploma
Compassionate and patient approach to supporting individuals with complex needs.
Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and behavioural support.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Clear vulnerable sector screening.
Valid driver's license preferred.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
