Applications are being accepted for the position of Child Development Leader 2 with East Richmond Community Association's Licensed Out-of-School Care Programs. Successful candidates will assist with the overall operation of licensed school-aged care programs, helping the staff maintain an active and well-organized OSC program for children aged 5-12 years.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and leads age and developmentally appropriate games, crafts, activities, and out-trips
Assist with planning, implementation and evaluating developmentally appropriate children's activities that address the needs of the child - socially, physically, intellectually, creatively and emotionally.
Prepare and assist children with eating snacks.
Instruct, interact and build relationships with school aged children on a daily basis; be clear and concise when talking and giving directions to children, staff and volunteers.
Communicate with other program instructors; attend regular staff meetings and training sessions.
Follow licensing and centre protocol for emergency situations and out-trips procedures.
Report suspected child abuse, endangerment and neglect to Supervisor.
Clean and maintain room and all equipment; assess toys and furnishings on a regular basis and report damaged items to Supervisor.
Monitor children in indoor and outdoor activities.
Ensure the physical and emotional program environment is safe for children.
Record information pertaining to children and families in program communications book and relay information concerning children to Supervisor.
Responsible to document and report child abuse to supervisors and the Ministry.
Other related duties as assigned and may vary according to facility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
20 hours of child care related courses/workshops, or Responsible Adult Certificate
19+ years of age
Standard or Emergency First Aid including CPR C or B
Criminal Record Check
High Five Training (can be acquired after hiring)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience working with children
Experience working with children that require extra support
Courses relating to supported child development
Challenging behaviours course
Class 4 Drivers License (or willingness to obtain prior to program)
