Children are valued as individuals that are competent, capable, curious, and rich in potential. Each centre focuses on children first, and aims to foster learning around belonging, engagement, expression, and well-being.The Child Care Cook, provides meals and snacks, performs housekeeping and laundry duties, and assists with the care of children.The role reports to the Program Supervisor, Child Care Centre and has the following accountabilities:

  • Plans and prepares meals and snacks in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and ensures that food supplies are maintained.
  • Ensures food supplies are maintained within the established budget.
  • Performs housekeeping and laundry duties.
  • Ensures that health and safety procedures are maintained.
Ideal Candidate
  • Secondary school graduation; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of a safe handling training course (Level 1)
  • Experience cooking and planning menus for large groups
  • Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide as it relates to the Child Care and Early Years Act.
