One (1) Permanent, Full-Time Position - COMP # 2025-06-30


LOCATION:

Satellite Office, 1040 Brookes Street, North Bay





North Bay Indigenous Hub's Child Care requires a Full-Time Cook to work

37.5 hours per week

from Monday to Friday at 1040 Brookes Street, North Bay. The Cook will be responsible for purchasing the food for the program, preparing the snacks and lunch from Monday to Friday for up to 87 children.

QUALIFICATIONS

:




Must have minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent Has knowledge and understanding of Canadian Food Guide and Traditional Food Guide Must have knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition and special dietary requirements Must have Safe Food Handler Training Must maintain temperature logs and standards of food safety/handling as per public health Must have two years' minimum experience in food preparation/serving Must have valid First Aid & CPR, as well as WHMIS training or be willing to obtain Must have experience working with children in a child care setting Must have a valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle Must be able to work with minimal supervision within a team environment Experience budgeting of quantities based on the menu and number of children in each class Must be a team player Must be punctual and reliable Experience as a cook or working in a kitchen



DUTIES INCLUDE:




Reports directly to the Child Care Supervisor Follows the existing approved menu on a daily basis Update/revise menu for daycare children based on the Canadian Food Guide and Traditional Food Guide Purchase food and supplies required for the daily preparation of meals and snacks Become familiar with every allergy/special needs of each child in the center, and is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of food delivered to each class based on those needs Maintain an organized, functioning and hygienic kitchen Adheres to safe food handling and storage standards Other duties as required


A current Criminal/Police Records Check and Vulnerable Persons check is a requirement for this position.
