Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Center Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in our care, ensuring that all food is handled safely and meets dietary guidelines. This role is vital in promoting healthy eating habits among children while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Duties

Prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks according to established menus and dietary requirements. Ensure all food is served in a safe and hygienic manner, adhering to food safety standards. Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring expiration dates, and minimizing waste. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing storage areas. Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies of children. Assist in meal planning and development of new recipes that are appealing to children. Monitor food temperatures during cooking and serving to ensure safety standards are met.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting. Food Safety Certification Cook Training from a recognized program considered an asset Familiarity with food handling practices and food safety regulations. Previous experience in the restaurant or food service industry is preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff and understand children's dietary needs. A passion for working with children and an understanding of their nutritional requirements. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in meal preparation.
